Here is a listing (courtesy of NY StateWide Senior Action Council) below of the special events being planned by senior and health consumer advocates across the state to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Medicare and Medicaid acts which were amendments to the 1935 Social Security Act. I didn’t realize that when President Lyndon Johnson signed the Medicare law in Independence, Missouri with former President Harry Truman, that Truman was enrolled as the first Medicare beneficiary.
The big event this week which I previously mentioned is the celebration and concert at the Cohoes Music Hall in Albany County with Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary on Thursday at 12:00 noon until 2:30.
Also here is a link to the WGY radio interview I did on Saturday with Lou Pierro on the 5oth anniversary
